Volver is proud to deliver custom made hand-tufted rugs to the iconic restored building of the former American Embassy, which is now transformed into a multifunctional office and recreation hub in the center of Oslo. Completed in 1959, the building is a highlight in the career of a renowned Finish-American architect Eero Saarinen.
The dining room is situated in the old auditorium. The ceiling is original and heritage-listed. The room is furnished carefully with chairs and tables from Tulip series Knoll.
The pattern for the rug in the Saarinen dining room rug is designed by Alexander Girard, one of the leading figures of Mid-Century design, and the license granted by his family, especially for this project.
The architect Eero Saarinen collaborated closely with the designer Alexander Girard, and the interior architects at Paulsen Nilsen thought it was a lovely idea to bring them again together in this project.
Collaborating closely with Mariann Paulsen and her team has been inspiring.
Wall-to-wall carpets are handtufted in pure New Zealand wool in open pile and loop to add more contrast and texture.
