Eira was in Norse mythology a goddess for the art of nature medicine and is the Goddess of Healing and mercy. Eira is the life-bringer, the healer of humans.
It is discussed whether Eira was originally a goddess of medicine or a Valkyrie. As a chooser of life and death, she is sometimes associated with the Norns.
Eira is a depiction of the radial plane is perpendicular to the growth rings. The pattern shows the seasons, where the tree went into more dormant state in winter with smaller cells, and widened up during the spring and summer.
