Ksenia Stanishevski and Linn Sletti from I_D Interior & Design have developed a series of custom rugs for The New Oslo University College. “The area around The New Oslo University College is surrounded by large green trees, and to break away from the strict architectural style, we wanted to draw inspiration from these when designing the rugs in collaboration with Volver. The rugs, with their soft and colorful shapes, create a beautiful contrast to the building’s sharp lines and offer a friendly nod to the organic forms found outside.” – describes Linn Sletti.
When The New Oslo University College moved to its new location at Adamstuen, there was a strong focus on reusing existing loose furnishings. The new location, housed in brick buildings from the 1990s, reflects a rigid architectural style where brick and slate are prominent elements of the interior surfaces. This adds both character and history to the building.
“For I-d, it was important to work with a color palette that harmonized with both the exterior and interior architecture, the surrounding green spaces, and the colors of the existing furniture to ensure the project appeared cohesive and seamless. “ – says Linn, chief interior architect for the project.
“We have developed a series of 5 rugs in different sizes, specifically suited for each sone in size, shape and colors. The motive of flying leaves was chosen to reflect the nature outside and bring it inside the location.” – adds Ksenia Stanishevski
The rugs are HD printed on durable PET base to suit the heavy traffic of the college life, when students both use the sones for studying and socializing.
